Founded in 1806 by Ferdinand III, of the Bourbon royal family which ruled over the Kingdom of Naples and the Two Sicilies, who made Accademia Panormitana degli Studi a University, now UniPa, ours is a huge campus with a vocation evenly divided up between teaching, research and third mission. The current educational programme consists of 161 courses of study ranging from undergraduate Degrees to Single Cycle Master Degrees and specialisation Degrees, 40 specialisation schools and 33 research doctorates.

The courses on offer cover vast fields of knowledge and combine tradition and experience with a constant openness to innovation, to the job market and to social inclusion.A number of eminent figures carried out activities at Palermo University: the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, astronomer Giuseppe Piazzi; chemist Stanislao Cannizzaro; architect Giuseppe Venanzio Marvuglia and Nobel Prize for Physics winner Emilio Segrè. Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino and Francesca Laura Morvillo, have also studied at UniPa.

Unipa

A Sud is an ecologist, independent, and feminist association founded in 2003 and based in Rome, Italy. The association works transversally on issues and fields related to the climate crisis, with primary objectives such as promoting climate, environmental, and social justice, raising awareness of environmental and climate conflicts, defending human rights, providing ecological education, and creating tools to help local communities become more informed and empowered to move collectively toward a just ecological transition. The association also promotes political and legal action for environmental and climate justice, such as the climate litigation A Sud et al. v. Italy.

Created in 1991, the Universitat Rovira i Virgili is aimed to put knowledge at the service of society to contribute to the social and economic development of southern Catalonia. The University has an international vocation and is a member of several networks with which it shares the vision of influencing social change through academic excellence and research. The URV is committed to human rights, to the defense of the Catalan language and culture, and to social, cultural, economic and sustainable development. Every year, 15000 students are trained in all areas of knowledge to be socially and environmentally responsible.

Mariupol State University (MSU), established in 1991, is a leading Ukrainian higher education institution with IV-level national accreditation. Offering 81 programs across Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels, it specializes in diverse fields like Economics, Informatics, Pedagogy, and Cultural Studies. MSU promotes lifelong learning through post-diploma and re-training programs. Despite being destroyed during the Russian invasion in 2022, MSU relocated to Kyiv, continuing to serve 3,200 students with 178 faculty members. Strongly focused on internationalization, it partners globally, runs 14 active projects, and fosters intercultural learning through dedicated centers.
