The CJLL project's experimental courses in climate justice have started at the universities of Palermo, Tarragona and Mariupol
March 1, 2025
In dramatic times of climate emergency, law is called upon to play a fundamental role in contributing to the definition of effective policies, both through governance tools and through the increasingly frequent recourse to judicial channels. With this in mind, new courses dedicated to climate law, which are at the heart of the project, started in the academic year at the CJLL project partner universities.
The Climate Justice Living Lab project, funded by the European Commission, was created precisely with the aim of strengthening the role of higher education in tackling the social challenges related to climate change. The new 48-hour training modules will be tested for two consecutive years by both Unipa and the other partner universities: the URV in Tarragona, Spain and the MSU in Mariupol, Ukraine. Among the partners is also the association A Sud, a pioneering ecologist organisation in Italy in the field of climate litigation.
This new field of law represents an opportunity for the legal, engineering and nature professions: knowledge and awareness on these issues are fundamental requirements for a full understanding of the current scenario.
