A roundtable discussion titled “Tourism and Environmental Challenges” will be held on April 22, 2025 as part of the international project “Climate Justice Living Lab.” Amidst the full-scale war in Ukraine—which has caused immense environmental damage, destroyed nature conservation infrastructure, and restricted access to natural areas—there is a need to rethink the role of tourism. Its potential lies not only in the restoration of territories but also in fostering environmental awareness, mobilizing local communities, and strengthening identity through a connection with nature. The event will feature a comprehensive, critical, yet constructive discussion on the challenges currently facing the Ukrainian tourism industry—viewed through the lens of global climate trends, local sustainable development initiatives, the environmental challenges of war, and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration among science, practice, and digital innovation.
